How we do it
Assess the piece
We look at the wood type, old finish and any damage, and agree the result you want.
Strip and sand
The old finish is removed and the surface sanded smooth, taking care around edges and detail.
Repair and colour
Small damage is filled and colour matched, and stain is applied if you want a new tone.
Varnish and cure
Several thin coats are applied, sanded lightly between and left to cure.

Is it worth varnishing old furniture?
If the wood is solid, almost always. We tell you honestly if a piece is not worth the cost.
Can you do it at my home?
Yes for most pieces, with the floor protected and the room ventilated. Larger jobs may be done at a workshop.
What about veneer and laminate furniture?
These need a different approach. Send photos and we will tell you what is possible.
